BOTE-WHAT???
If you missed my first newsletter, I am sending these emails to provide Council transparency and inform the Complex of all relevant information. If you have anything that you would like me to add to them, please let me know!
Welcome from Fall break, we hope you all had a lovely time! Good luck to everyone who’s taking exams this week! And happy early Halloween!!!
The Council held its 2nd general body meeting on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Thanks to everyone who came out!!!
The next Pro-Exec (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) meeting is this Sunday in Gooch Hall.
The next General Body Meeting is Sunday, November 6, 2022, in Fauquier Hall. (My birthday!!! Best birthday present ever!)
The meeting minutes, as well as all past newsletters and communications, can be found here:

What we discussed:
CC, RHA, SA JOINT EVENT
The Council and the SA are planning a joint event, also hopefully with RHA. The purpose is to facilitate a greater connection between the organizations to the student body, as well as to provide helpful information, answer any questions, and share community concerns.
The planning of the date and the location is taking place.
If you are interested, please fill out this form: or contact me (Peerawut, contact info down below), Spencer Krivo (sdkrivo@wm.edu), or Jiexi Lin (jlin19@wm.edu).
Fauquier Hall Access Outside of Duty Hours
The Council was informed of an issue in which non-Fauquier residents have swipe access to Fauquier Hall outside of Duty hours (6-10 p.m. or 6-11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday). I have contacted Head RA Sylvain Chassagneux and I have been told that the issue has been known and reported. Thank you to Hall Rep. Emily Radick for bringing this issue to the Council’s attention and thank you to Sylvain.
SA and CC Relationship
Class of 2026 Student Assembly Senator Spencer Krivo and fellow senator and Hall Rep. Jiexi Lin outlined goals for greater cooperation between the SA and the CC. Students are able to pre-write legislation and communicate concerns with members of the Botetourt Complex Pro-Exec Board as well as members of the SA.
Budget
The budget of our CC is estimated to be around $4,500. The Treasurer still lacks access to the bank account, however, we hope to get more information this weekend.
The Botetourt Events and Feedback Form
The Botetourt Events and Feedback form is still open! Please feel free to let us know of any suggestions, comments, or concerns. (If you don’t have an idea for an event to suggest but would like to still provide other feedback or make a request, you can also use the form!)
Nicholson Hall Fine
The Nicholson Hall fine that the Council voted on at the general body meeting on October 2, 2022, of seven cents, will not be instituted as of this moment, as per the new Area Director. Instead, another action will be taken. We await further instructions from the Area Director.
RHA Happenings
Fall Fest is happening this week in the Sunken Garden at 5:30 p.m. Feel free to come and help out if interested!
Key keepers will be available at the Duty Office soon.
Thanks to our Rep. to RHA Jenine Samara for the information.
Duty Office Inventory
The Council will conduct an inventory of items available in the Duty Office and will publicize it to the Complex for utilization purposes.
Purchase Approvals
We approved a few items for purchase:
Candy for the Candy Handout Initiative
A basketball for the Duty Office and pump (or adapter for the bicycle pump)
A ping pong table for Spotswood Hall
Ping pong nets for Nicholson and Gooch Halls
Baking sheets and oven mitts for the Duty Office
Council Initiatives
These are the upcoming initiatives that the Council is working on:
Candy Handout initiative for this Sunday
Please contact me if you would like to join the committee for this initiative (helping out with assembling/preparation!)
The previously mentioned town hall with RHA and SA
Impact Week
Proposed: Community-wide trash clean-up event/competition with a prize
Bike Racks
The Council will attempt to locate another bike rack. We will also attempt to move the bike racks that we have to optimize space. Please contact me or a member of the Pro-Exec Board if you would like to assist. Thanks to Ethan Chan for bringing this issue to our attention.
Connect With the Council
I have made a Calendly page for anyone in the Complex, but especially for members of the Exec Board, to schedule a session to discuss anything council-related with me: https://calendly.com/peerawut_r/10min/. You do not need to schedule a session to talk to me but this is a great way to have it be more organized, if you prefer!
I have made an Issue Tracker tab on Microsoft Teams for the Council Exec Board Teams page to keep track of issues and works-in-progress. If you are not a member of the Exec Board and would like to report an issue, please feel free to contact me or use the events and feedback form.
Thanks to Council Secretary Katie Railsback for taking the meeting minutes, as always!
With Botetourtly love,
